Home Streets
Jakarta & surrounding cities, Indonesia — 2016–2026
These are the streets I know best, the ones I pass on the way to work, on weekend errands, on evenings when the light turns gold over the rooftops. In Jakarta and the towns around it, life spills out of every doorway: motorbikes weave through gaps that barely exist, a warung owner waits for the next customer, flags flutter over a narrow alley as the day fades.
Photographing home is harder than photographing elsewhere. Familiarity makes things invisible. This series is my attempt to see these streets the way a stranger would, with the patience of someone who will be back tomorrow.
It ends with a child walking calmly between rows of motorbikes, unbothered by the noise around her—perhaps the most Indonesian kind of grace.
