Neon Asia

Hong Kong & Macau (2017), Seoul (2025)

In the great cities of East Asia, the night belongs to the signs. Neon bleeds into wet pavement, taxis glow red at intersections, and narrow alleys open suddenly into pockets of colour. I came to these cities on family holidays, and it was usually after dinner, when the day's plans were done, that I went out walking with my camera and let the light do the storytelling.

The series moves from the dense vertical streets of Hong Kong to the damp lanes and lanterns of Macau, then on to Seoul's buzzing shopping streets, where a single quiet alley echoes a stairway in Macau photographed years before.

Different cities, different years, yet the same feeling: that in Asia, the city at night is a stage, and everyone who passes through it becomes part of the scene.
